Which kit do I need? +

It comes down to how the fastener failed. The 10PCS bites from the inside — for heads that are gone, snapped off flush, or with a rounded-out Allen socket. The 14PCS is a socket set that grips from the outside — for heads that are still there but rounded past the point a wrench can hold. Neither replaces the other, which is why most people take the bundle.

What tools do I need alongside the kit? +

For the 10PCS: a 1/2" socket on a ratchet, breaker bar or impact wrench. The extractor body is a 1/2" hex, so it is driven by a socket rather than a drill chuck. You only need a drill if the bolt snapped off flush and you have to make a pilot hole first.

For the 14PCS: a hammer to tap the socket on, and something to turn it. It is 3/8" drive, and the included adapter converts 1/4" hex to 3/8" square so a drill or impact driver drives it too.

Will the extractor break off inside the bolt? +

Cheap extractors made of soft metal do exactly that, and it turns a bad day into a much worse one. These are heat-treated so the tool stays harder than the fastener. Turn it steadily with a socket and let the spiral bite rather than forcing it.
